Our Campus is Reopening
Important Information Regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Since opening our doors in a face-to-face environment on August 11, Okaloosa Technical College has worked hard to ensure that students and staff have been safe on campus. We encourage students and staff who are sick to stay home. We encourage students and staff to self-screen before they come to school. We do health checks for all students, staff, and visitors when they enter our facility.
We have been successful in maintaining instruction.
In being transparent, we have had one student and two faculty members who have tested positive since August 11. Contact tracing has led to 5 students being quarantined (two from on campus interaction) and 10 staff members who have been quarantined (seven from on campus interaction). We have had eight staff members who have been isolated because of symptoms (no positive test results). Even when those people were out, we have been tenacious in continuing to offer instruction virtually, while at the same time working to have compassion to the personal situations.
Okaloosa Technical College is working to maintain our goal of preparing a workforce, but we are also working to do it in a safe environment.
