Marine Service TechnologiesPerform maintenance & repair on Honda, Mercury Marine & other major manufacturer inboard and outboard engines.Exciting Career Fields: Marine Rigger, Service Writer/Parts Technician, Outboard Engine Technician, Inboard Gas TechnicianWorking directly on the marine engines, students learn to use the tools, equipment, materials, and processes found in the marine industry and are prepared for employment as machinery, marine engine, or outboard motor technicians Classroom and practical experience with maintenance, repair, trouble-shooting, removal and reinstallation of marine engines and related equipment on pleasure boats and commercial crafts. The course content will include the following: service, repair and overhaul of two-stroke and four-stroke cycle engines and outboard motors, and service and repair of boating accessories. This will include electrical systems, fuel systems, power transfer systems, ignition systems, cooling systems, lubrication systems, drive systems, and boat and trailer rigging. OTC offers students the ability to participate in Yamaha’s Maintenance Certification Program or (MCP). Students will learn to perform the 20, 100, 300, 500 and 1,000-hour maintence procedures for all 4 sizes of the Yamaha Outboards – portable, mid-range, inline and v-engine. In collaborating with Yamaha Marine University, our students will have the opportunity become Yamaha Certified Maintenance technicians. Students will focus on completing the following procedures and routine maintence on Yamaha outboards: Oil changes, Water pump service, Lower unit oil change, Fuel filter service, YDIS fuel pressure, Vapor Separator Tank (VST), Timing belts, Valve train, Compression, Cooling Systems, YDIS download and Mechanical rigging.
